Swamp Fox Farms History

This is our story. We quit our jobs in New Jersey in 1996 and moved here to work for the previous owner.  In 2000, we bought the produce farm.  Our children were 10 and 8 years old.   Moving here was a big step for us, but we have no regrets.  Steve and I really love working this 58 acre farm.  We are a family business.  Our son works with us and is a tremendous help.   Since we bought the farm, we have put up a pole building which has a store front and the back of the building is for equipment.  We also have 4 greenhouses and 3 high tunnels (unheated small greenhouse).  We start our greenhouses in Feb/Mar.  We start vegetable plants, bedding plants and flowers.  By May, we have our hanging baskets completed.  In April, we start planting in our fields - sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant,  and many other vegetables.  Our first u-pick fruit, is strawberries and that is at the end of May, beginning of June.  We pick our first sweet corn by July 4th.  We strive on getting the early sweet corn.  After that, all of our other veggies start coming in, and we pick everyday.  The days are very long here in the summer, but very rewarding!  Our farm is a u-pick farm.  The fall is a great time  with the hayrides to the pumpkin patch and being able to talk with you all.  After fall, we go into our Christmas time with fraser fir trees, and I have wreath making classes and I also make wreaths for our farmstand.   We close for the months of January, February and March.  At that time, we are at conferences seminars, trade shows and ordering seeds for the upcoming year.  Thank you visiting our website.
